Don’t turn temporary states into permanent identities
During our low moments it can seem like that feeling says something final about who we are or what our life is. A hard day becomes my life is a mess. A low mood becomes this is just who I am. A season of confusion becomes I’m lost.
Our low moments don’t deserves that kind of authority and declaration.
Our internal experiences are just passing through. They are real, but they are not permanent. They do not need to become your identity. They do not need to mean something larger than what they are.
The problem is not that we feel low. The problem is how quickly we attach to it and start building a self-concept around a temporary experience. We cling to the feeling, repeat it, and then begin to relate to it as if it is the truth of who we are.
But many states pass on their own when we do not grip them so tightly. They rise, they move through, and they leave. They are part of being human, not a definition of the self.
You are allowed to have a heavy moment without turning it into a permanent story about your life. It is just one experience among many. It is not your identity.
